The Boss is back at the Stade de France on 29 June 2013, almost 10 years after his first performance there. Accompanied by The E Street Band on his Wrecking Ball world tour, Bruce Springsteen – electric guitar slung over his shoulder and fist raised – will remind us that he is “Born in the USA” and once again make the stands at the Stade de France shake to the sound of rock and roll!
It was in 1975 that his career really took off with his album *Born to Run*, followed in 1982 by his album *Nebraska*, which was a massive hit. But his biggest success came in 1984 with the album *Born in the U.S.A.* Bruce Springsteen went on to win numerous Grammy Awards throughout his career. He went on to release further albums, including *Human Touch* in 1992 and *Tracks* in 1998.

A deeply committed activist, Bruce Springsteen has taken part in numerous concerts with a ‘political’ message. For example, he took part in a concert against nuclear power organised in 1976. To commemorate the 9/11 attacks, he also released the album *The Rising* in 2002, which provided him with the opportunity, after several years as a solo artist, to reunite with *The E Street Band*, the group of musicians who had accompanied him from 1972 to 1989.
Over the decades, he has continued to explore different musical genres, from rock to folk and soul, whilst retaining a unique place in American popular culture.
Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, Bruce Springsteen was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016, one of the highest civilian honours in the United States.
Throughout a career spanning several decades, Bruce Springsteen has established himself as a key figure in rock music, driven by an instantly recognisable narrative style of songwriting, a close relationship with the E Street Band, and live performances that are central to his artistic identity.
