The Grand Clash between France and Wales in the 2025 Six Nations Tournament promises to be a major event.
After a year in 2024 marked by a move away from their usual stadium due to construction work linked to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Fabien Galthié's Bleus will kick off the next edition of the Tournament by taking on Wales at the Stade de France on Friday 31 January 2025.
The Welsh team, with 39 victories including 12 Grand Slam tournaments, is a formidable opponent, followed by the French team with its 26 victories. The French team, meanwhile, has won five consecutive matches against the Welsh, most recently in Cardiff last March, when it scored 5 tries.
This match promises to be an intense and exciting duel, which is sure to draw large numbers of Welsh and French fans to support their beloved team!
Two newcomers to the French squad, second row Emmanuel Meafou and centre Nicolas Depoortere, may well have the opportunity to take to the pitch at the Stade de France. It would be a first for the UBB player.

L’Equipe de France débutera sa campagne automnale au Stade de France par un match « amical » face aux redoutables gallois.
Ce match de préparation permettra aux Bleus de se régler avant de jouer leur dernier match du Tournoi des Six Nations face aux irlandais la semaine suivante. Ensuite, Antoine Dupont et ses coéquipiers termineront cette saison si particulière en disputant 4 matchs lors de l’Autumn Nations Cup 2020. Cette nouvelle compétition qui regroupe 8 équipes (l’Angleterre, l’Irlande, le Pays de Galles, la Géorgie, la France, l’Ecosse, l’Italie et les Fidji), se déroulera du 13 novembre au 6 décembre 2020.

Jacques Brunel’ players will start their 2019 tournament with a game against Wales, who came second in 2018.
After a victory snatched, not without difficulty, against Scotland (15-8) in the opening game, and then a defeat in Ireland (18-11), the French XV had to face Wales at Stade de France on February 28 2015 during the third round of the Six Nations Championship. The French XV ultimately did not measure up to the more realistic and concrete Welsh, with a final score of 20-13. Another defeat which highlighted the shortcomings of the French XV.

On February 9 2013, in the France/Wales Six Nations Championship match at Stade de France, Wales beat France 16-6. Both teams were neck and neck before a try from North in the 72nd minute tilted the score in favour of the Welsh right at the end of the game. What a shame for the French XV!
Rugby union is a popular sport that is part of the national culture of Wales. No wonder that its national team is considered one of the best national teams in the world because of its record. The Welsh largely dominated the Five Nations Championship in the 1970s, with 8 victories between 1969 and 1979. The famous back, JPR Williams, is the only Welsh player to have won these eight titles. He and several other Welsh players in the 1970s (Gerald Davies, John Taylor, Phil Bennett, Gareth Edwards, Barry John) are considered as some of the greatest players in the history of rugby union.
On October 5 2015, the Wales team was placed third in the rugby union national team rankings.
