About football matches at Stade de France
18 years old in 2016, Stade de France, commonly called STADEFRANCE, is already a great monument of international football. Built for the World Cup, it started construction on June 2 1995 and opened its turnstiles on January 28 1998.
Despite its young age, Stade de France has especially played host to some epic football matches! One that stands out was the first match played at STADEFRANCE and the 1-0 victory of France against Spain, as well as the final of the World Cup or the big names who have set the place alight, such as Fabien Barthez, Lilian Thuram or a certain Zinedine Zidane... who also played in France’s 3-0 victory against Brazil!
