Biography of Linkin Park

LINKIN PARK, the iconic American band, has left its mark on the world of modern music with its raw energy and constant innovation. Since its beginnings in the 1990s, the band has never stopped reinventing itself, captivating an ever-growing audience, particularly in Europe and France, where fans enjoy sold-out concerts and prestigious festivals such as Hellfest and events at the Groupama Stadium and the Stade de France.

THE BEGINNINGS: THE FOUNDING MEETING

It all began in 1992, when Brad Delson, Mike Shinoda and Rob Bourdon formed a group combining metal, rap and funk. This first group, called Relative Degree, evolved rapidly. In 1998, after a few changes, Chester Bennington joined the group, bringing a unique voice that propelled Linkin Park to the forefront of the scene. In 1999, the official name Linkin Park was unveiled, marking the start of an exceptional musical adventure.

THE PHENOMENAL SUCCESS OF ‘HYBRID THEOR’(2000-2002)

The first album, Hybrid Theory, released in 2000, was a worldwide success. With singles like ‘One Step Closer’ and ‘Crawling’, the album topped the Billboard charts and sold millions of copies. This success was followed by Meteora in 2003, an album that confirmed their place as one of the great rock and metal artists of their generation. Songs like “Numb” and “Somewhere I Belong” became anthems for millions of fans around the world.

MUSICAL REINVENTION

In 2004, Linkin Park unveiled Collision Course, a special edition in collaboration with Jay-Z, fusing rock and hip-hop and marking a new stage in their artistic evolution. At the same time, they became involved in humanitarian work, notably with Music For Relief, founded after the Asian tsunami.

The following years saw the band explore new horizons with albums such as Minutes to Midnight, A Thousand Suns and Living Things, blending rock, electronica and sonic experimentation. In 2014, The Hunting Party marked a return to their more aggressive roots, hailed by critics and fans alike during an intense live tour that included a number of European festivals.

THE TRAGIC LOSS OF CHESTER BENNINGTON

In May 2017, the album One More Light was unveiled, offering a more pop and R&B orientation. Despite a mixed reception, this album remains a milestone. Sadly, that same year tragedy struck with the loss of Chester Bennington, a moment that shook the Linkin Park France community and the world. A tribute concert was organised, bringing together fans and artists.

THE RETURN TO THE STAGE AND THE OPENING OF A NEW ERA

The final chapter of this story takes place in 2024. Linkin Park returned to the stage with a new line-up: Emily Armstrong on vocals, Alex Feder on guitar and Colin Brittain on drums. Their first single, “The Emptiness Machine”, unveiled at a concert in Europe, heralds a forthcoming album due in 2025. Tickets for the tour were snapped up, proving that the band remains a force to be reckoned with on the world rock scene.

Linkin Park continues to make its mark, true to its heritage, with music that combines emotion, power and innovation. Fans in France can keep up to date with the latest official news on the networks and make the most of every live performance, from festivals to full concerts like those awaiting them at the Stade de France on 5 and 6 July 2025.

The group's list of hits continues to grow, confirming their status as one of the world's leading artists.
