Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is an American singer-songwriter and actress born on 28 March 1986 in New York. A leading figure in contemporary popular music, she has made her mark on the international stage through the uniqueness of her artistic vision, the power of her performances and her ability to move seamlessly between pop, electronic music, rock and jazz.

She achieved worldwide fame following the release of her debut album, *The Fame*, in 2008. Driven in particular by the singles ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Poker Face’ – both of which reached number one in the US – the album marked the beginning of an international career that would make Lady Gaga one of the most recognisable figures of her generation.

Throughout her career, Lady Gaga has built up a discography characterised by numerous artistic developments. Following *The Fame* and *The Fame Monster*, she released *Born This Way* in 2011, *Artpop* in 2013, *Joanne* in 2016 and *Chromatica* in 2020. She also explored jazz alongside Tony Bennett with *Cheek to Cheek* in 2014 and *Love for Sale* in 2021, both of which won Grammy Awards.

In 2025, she made her comeback with *Mayhem*, her new studio album, which included *Die With a Smile*, recorded with Bruno Mars. At the 68th Grammy Awards, *Mayhem* won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album, whilst *Abracadabra* won Best Dance-Pop Recording. Lady Gaga’s official Grammy Awards record now stands at 16 wins and 45 nominations.

Alongside her musical career, Lady Gaga has also made a name for herself as an actress. Following her role in the series *American Horror Story: Hotel*, for which she won a Golden Globe, she starred in 2018’s *A Star Is Born* alongside Bradley Cooper. She co-wrote several songs for the film, including *Shallow*, which won the Oscar for Best Original Song as well as two Grammy Awards.

Her commitment also extends beyond the artistic sphere. In 2011, she founded the Born This Way Foundation with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, an organisation dedicated in particular to promoting the wellbeing of young people.

A multi-faceted artist, Lady Gaga has thus built a career at the crossroads of music, film and performance. Her successive artistic transformations, from the electronic pop of her early days to jazz and film, are now one of the most recognisable hallmarks of her career.
