About the Australian team

The Australian rugby union team, known as the Wallabies, represent their country in all major international rugby union tournaments. The team is amongst the first three nations in the international rugby team rankings.

Every year under the leadership of Michael Cheika, the Wallabies compete in the Three Nations tournament against the New Zealand and South African teams, where the atmosphere is really electric. The Australian team is under the aegis of the Australian Rugby Union. To date between France and Australia, both teams have come face to face on forty six occasions, including two for the World Cup. One of the first matches of the Australian team at the Stade de France was held during the Rugby World Cup in 1999. A minor yet significant defeat for the French came when they were faced with the tries of David Wilson, Tom Bowman, Toutai Kefu and John Eales, losing 20 points to 32. Matches take place quite frequently between the two teams, such as the Five Nations Rugby Tournament, for example. However, the French won against the Australian Rugby team in 2005. Still rivals of the New Zealand team, known as the All Blacks, the Australian team won two world championship titles. The Wallabies include talented and legendary plays like: Will Skelton, Peter Hynes, Ryan Cross, James Horwill, Drew Mitchell, Larkham and Wendell Sailor, as well as other world star players.
