Biography of JUL

Jul, whose real name is Julien Mari, is a French rapper and songwriter born on 14 January 1990 in Marseille. He has been one of the most influential and prolific artists on the French rap scene since the 2010s. Jul's unique style is a blend of rap, trap and electronic sounds, making his music both popular and accessible.

HIS MUSICAL BEGINNINGS

Jul grew up in the working-class neighbourhoods of Marseille, where he developed a passion for music. As a teenager, he took up rap and began recording his first tracks. In 2014, he really made his breakthrough with his first album, Dans ma paranoïa, which was a huge success. Songs such as ‘J'oublie tout’ contributed to his fame. This album marked the beginning of his career and revealed his authentic lyrics, which address everyday themes such as street life, relationships and social life.

 

A DISTINCTIVE MUSICAL STYLE

Jul's musical style is characterised by a mix of traditional rap and modern sounds. He is particularly influenced by trap and electronic music, but he does not hesitate to incorporate elements from Marseille, which gives him a distinctive touch.
