HIS MUSICAL BEGINNINGS

Jul grew up in the working-class neighbourhoods of Marseille, where he developed a passion for music. As a teenager, he took up rap and began recording his first tracks. In 2014, he really made his breakthrough with his first album, Dans ma paranoïa, which was a huge success. Songs such as ‘J'oublie tout’ contributed to his fame. This album marked the beginning of his career and revealed his authentic lyrics, which address everyday themes such as street life, relationships and social life.

Jul's musical style is characterised by a mix of traditional rap and modern sounds. He is particularly influenced by trap and electronic music, but he does not hesitate to incorporate elements from Marseille, which gives him a distinctive touch. His lyrics, which are both simple and direct, resonate particularly with younger generations. Jul tackles popular themes such as everyday struggles, success, love, and the challenges of modern society.

A PROLIFIC CAREER

The artist is also known for his prolific output. He regularly releases mixtapes and albums that are hugely successful commercially. This steady pace of two to four albums a year allows him to maintain a constant presence on streaming platforms and rack up millions of views and plays. This has enabled him to become the most listened-to artist in France, accumulating billions of views on YouTube and diamond, gold and platinum record certifications.

HIS BEGINNINGS

Early in his career at the legendary Bains Douches, he met Steve Goncalves, who became his manager and encouraged him to create his own musical universe. By the age of 20, production had become his priority, and he quickly began collaborating with big names. In 2012, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on Lady Gaga's album Born This Way – his first major accolade. The following year, he wrote several tracks on Artpop, including ‘Applause’ and ‘Do What U Want.’ He also remixed tracks by Kanye West, Major Lazer and Duck Sauce, confirming his talent.

THE RAPID RISE

In December 2013, DJ Snake released ‘Turn Down For What’ featuring Lil Jon, a global hit supported by an iconic music video and certified platinum in March 2014. The track went straight to the top 10 in the US, caused a sensation in advertising and earned four Video Music Award nominations. A year later, in February, he released ‘Get Low’ in collaboration with Dillon Francis and Diplo, and produced a successful remix of Aluna George's ‘You Know You Like It,’ sending the track into the Billboard Hot 100.

March 2015 marked a turning point: ‘Lean On’ with Major Lazer became the global hit of the summer. With a Bollywood-inspired music video, it racked up over 500 million views on YouTube and broke the streaming record in France (2 million plays in one day). The single topped the charts in France, Australia, Denmark, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and many other countries. Building on this success, he went on to perform at concerts, festivals and shows in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.

Buoyed by this momentum, DJ Snake followed up with ‘Middle’ (October 2015), featuring Bipolar Sunshine. The eagerly awaited video was released in March 2016, and the single reached number 12 in France. In May, he teased a studio collaboration with Skrillex, and in June, he released ‘Talk’ with George Maple.

FIRST ALBUM: ‘ENCORE’

At the end of June 2016, the artist announced his first solo album, Encore, which was released on 5 August. The day before, at midnight, he released the single Let Me Love You featuring Justin Bieber. The song was an instant hit: the lyric video reached 4 million views in just a few days. The album features prestigious collaborations (Skrillex, Young Thug, Jeremih, Travis Scott). DJ Snake received a nomination at the NRJ Music Awards in the ‘Best DJ of the Year’ category alongside Kungs, David Guetta, Kygo, Feder and Martin Garrix. In November, he performed at the Zénith in Paris, hosted by Martin Solveig, then released the video for his hit with Bieber.

2017–2018: CONFIRMING STAR STATUS

In March 2017, he performed at the Ultra Festival in Miami, then announced via his social media accounts that new tracks were on the way. On 22 September, he presented ‘A Different Way’, a duet with Lauv, projected onto Times Square. Despite living in Miami, he remains loyal to France: on 24 February 2018, he filled the AccorHotels Arena in Paris. Named ‘DJ of the Year’ at the 2018 NRJ Music Awards, he triumphed in November in Cannes for his hit ‘Taki Taki’ with Selena Gomez, Cardi B and Ozuna, a trophy that led him to shave his head in celebration.

‘CARTE BLANCHE’: MATURITY

In July 2019, DJ Snake released his second album, Carte Blanche, featuring 17 dance tracks. It includes the singles Loco Contigo, Magenta Riddim, Try It, and When The Lights Down. The result of two years of production, this album confirmed his status. He travelled to Cannes in August for the Plages Électroniques festival, alongside Solomun and Orelsan. He was voted ‘DJ of the Year’ at the 2019 NRJ Music Awards for the second consecutive year and was named one of the most influential French people by Vanity Fair.

SPECTACULAR RECORDS & SHOWS

In February 2020, he had more than 40,000 fans dancing at the Paris La Défense Arena, on a stage with a catwalk and a giant replica of the Arc de Triomphe. The concert was broadcast in cinemas at the end of August. In July 2020, he returned with ‘Trust Nobody’. In December, he won the title of ‘DJ of the Year’ for the third time at the NRJ Music Awards.

2024–2025: NEW MOMENTUM

In 2024, during his concert at the Coachella festival, DJ Snake presented ‘Teka’, a Latin track in collaboration with Mexican star Peso Pluma - a real musical highlight. The track was an instant hit and was announced as the lead single from his upcoming album. He organised an official release party at Phantom Paris to celebrate the launch.

For his big comeback on stage in 2025, the world's most listened-to French DJ (over 30 billion streams) sold out the 80,000 seats at the Stade de France in a matter of minutes and put on a memorable show that will forever mark his career. At the end of his concert, he announced the release of his album ‘Nomad’ for September 2025.

Every step of the way, big or small, is officialised and eagerly awaited by his fans in France and around the world, including Girondins de Bordeaux supporters, who also follow his exploits off the pitch!

Fally Ipupa started out playing in the streets of Kinshasa with a group of friends. But fate had other plans for Fally Ipupa, whose voice caught the ear of Congolese star Koffi Olomidé. In 1999, he brought him into his band, Quartier Latin, and the following year, he made his debut at Bercy. But the singer had other ambitions and was dreaming big. In 2006, he launched his solo career and his country discovered this warm voice, singing of love like no other to the rhythms that make Congolese rumba so captivating. *Tokooos*, a nod to his unique style, is undoubtedly the album that cemented Fally Ipupa’s status as an international legend of African music. With this release, he became the first Congo-based artist to win a gold disc in France. A massive success that he celebrated in front of 20,000 people. Twenty years after performing there with Koffi Olimidé, this time it was he and he alone whom the French came to cheer at Bercy!

THE AWAKENING OF A FUTURE GLOBAL STAR

Burna Boy is now recognized as the global icon of Afrobeat, a genre that originated in Nigeria and has since been embraced around the world. His concerts are hugely successful, offering a complete show experience: energetic choreography, spectacular lighting effects, and grandiose staging on stages worthy of Hollywood films.

FIRST ALBUM AT AGE 22

In the summer of 2013, at just 22 years old, the Nigerian singer released his first studio album, LIFE (an acronym for Leaving an Impact For Eternity). Featuring tracks such as Tonight and Abeg Abeg, the album, produced by Aristokrat Records, enjoyed an incredible launch, selling over 40,000 copies on its first day. The presence of renowned artists such as Wizkid on this project contributed greatly to its success. A year later, the singer chose to leave Aristokrat to found his own label. In 2015, his second album, On a Spaceship, was released. It was followed in September 2016 by a seven-track EP, further enriching his already promising discography.

NOTABLE COLLABORATIONS AND INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS

In early 2018, Burna Boy's career took a turn when he collaborated with rock band Fall Out Boy on the song Sunshine Riptide. That same year, he released his third studio album, Outside, which included the track More Life. This track was sampled and modified by Canadian rapper Drake. Rather than taking legal action, the two artists opted to collaborate directly on the track Balling. With a string of strong singles such as Ye, Burna Boy consolidated his reputation in Nigeria, winning numerous awards and gradually finding his place on the world stage.

In 2019, he released his fourth album, African Giant, and was named New Artist by Apple Music. He also contributed to Beyoncé's soundtrack for The Lion King: The Gift.

GLOBAL RECOGNITION AND ACCLAIM

With African Giant, Burna Boy demonstrates the extent of his talent far beyond Afrobeat. His music has won over a global audience, captivated by its catchy rhythms and powerful lyrics. In 2020, he returned with Twice as Tall, an album with a strong African influence, featuring prestigious collaborations with Youssou N'Dour (Level Up), Chris Martin of Coldplay (Monsters You Made), and the American collective Naughty by Nature. This album marked a turning point, winning him a 2021 Grammy Award in the “Best World Music Album” category, ahead of artists such as Anoushka Shankar and Bebel Gilberto. He followed this up with a remix of Hey Boy featuring singer Sia.

PILLAR OF AFROBEAT

Since the mid-2010s, Afrobeat has established itself as an international musical wave, driven by artists such as Wizkid and Burna Boy. This genre is now considered by some experts to be the new “global pop.” With his Nigerian roots, African cultural heritage, and influences such as Bob Marley and Fela Kuti, Burna Boy stands out as one of the movement's most iconic ambassadors.

AN ANTHEM TO SUCCESS AND A QUINTET CELEBRATING TEN YEARS OF CAREER

Tireless, Burna Boy continues on his path at a steady pace. In 2022, he ushered in a new era with his sixth album, Love, Damini, celebrating ten years in music. To promote this opus, he relied on festive singles such as It's Plenty and a duet with Ed Sheeran, For My Hand—a collaboration that began in 2019. That same year, he triumphs by filling the legendary Madison Square Garden in April 2022, a major milestone in his career.

His rise continues in 2023 with a concert at Wembley Stadium, which has a capacity of 90,000 - three times more than the New York venue.

HEADING TO THE STADE DE FRANCE FOR A HISTORIC CONCERT

On April 18, 2025, Burna Boy will make history when he arrives in Paris at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis) for a major concert event, becoming the first African artist to perform a solo concert at this legendary stadium. Ticket sales, which opened last September, were a resounding success. All 80,000 tickets sold out in just a few days. While waiting for a possible future concert in France, the singer will continue his tour abroad until the end of 2025.
