K-pop

It's impossible to ignore the incredible rise of K-pop in France over the last ten years. But what exactly is K-pop? It's a musical genre originating in South Korea, which fuses contemporary sounds such as pop, rock, electro, hip-hop and jazz, often with lyrics in English.

The Korean music industry has attracted millions of fans around the world. K-pop groups, whether male or female, follow a set of codes and terminologies specific to this universe.

Let's take a look at the K-pop groups, whose members are affectionately known as ‘idols’, who have performed or will be performing at the Stade de France.

BTS, THE MOST INFLUENTIAL K-POP GROUP

BTS is undoubtedly the most influential K-pop group in the world, and is often seen as a veritable cultural phenomenon. Comprising seven members, the boy band has sold millions of albums and smashed numerous sales records. The ballad ‘Spring Day’ stands out as one of the group's most representative songs. Their success marked an entire generation and paved the way for other Korean artists on the international scene.

STRAY KIDS CHOOSE THE STADE DE FRANCE FOR THEIR FIRST WORLD STADIUM TOUR

Like B.I., Stray Kids are renowned for their ability to compose the majority of their songs. Two of its members, Lee Know and Bang Chan, are particularly popular with fans. The group is renowned for its bold style, an easily identifiable blend of electro, trap and hip-hop. The track ‘God's Menu’ is a perfect example.

Stray Kids are preparing to give a series of exceptional concerts at the Stade de France on 26 and 27 July, an opportunity not to be missed by the millions of fans who follow them.

BLACKPINK, THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS FEMALE K-POP GROUP

The quartet has collaborated with international artists such as Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga. Their song ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ currently holds the record for the most viewed K-pop video on YouTube, with 730 million views to date. With 5.7 million followers on Instagram and 94.8 million on YouTube, Blackpink have captured the hearts of millions of fans. Their latest show, ‘Born Pink World Tour’, set a new record as the highest-grossing tour for a female group in history. After causing a sensation at the Accor Arena in December 2022, the K-pop icons were back in Paris on 15 July 2023, for another concert at the Stade de France. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of their new album in 2025, which promises to be a landmark event.

K-pop continues to make its mark and to fascinate. The Stade de France is once again preparing to welcome one of the most talented and popular groups, Stray Kids, for two unforgettable shows. Whether you're a fervent admirer of BTS, a fan of Blackpink or a fan of the unique sounds of Stray Kids, there's no doubt that these Korean groups will continue to make their mark on the history of world pop music.
