The Areva meeting: Athletics at Stade France

Sport

The Areva meeting, named after its main sponsor, is the eighth stage of the fourteen meetings that mark the Diamond League circuit. This competition is organised by the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) and combines 17 disciplines for as many trophies.

Victory is based on a points system: at each meeting, the first three athletes accumulate points. At the end of the final meeting, the athlete having obtained the most points wins the trophy for their discipline.

WHAT IS THE AREVA MEETING?

The meeting is an exceptional high-level sporting event. This meeting means two and a half hours to watch the best athletes compete against each other on a programme of 17 events. For men, the events are 100, 400 and 1500m, 110m hurdles, 300m steeplechase, high jump and long jump, pole vault and discus. For women, the events are 100, 800, and 3000/5000m, 400m hurdles, pole vault, triple jump, shot put and javelin. To attend this competition, four categories of seats are available: arrival, departure, category 1 and category 2. Packages allow you to benefit from preferential rates.

THE AREVA MEETING, ITS STARS AND ITS RECORDS:

The 2015 Areva meeting can already boast of the participation of the living sprint legend, Usain Bolt. The 100m world record holder will compete over this same distance. The Jamaican is, in particular, the holder of two meeting records: the 100m in 9.79 seconds (2009) and the 200m in 19.73 seconds (2013). This meeting is also an opportunity for French athletes to shine. Thus, in 2013, Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad set the European record for the 3000m steeplechase there. This year, the public will be able to encourage, among others, the French record pole-vaulter, Renaud Lavillenie.

On Saturday, 4 July 2015, Stade de France will host the thirty-first edition of the Areva meeting, an international athletics competition. This meeting has been held at Stade de France since 2009 and brings together the biggest names from the world of athletics.

Attending the Areva meeting is the guarantee of experiencing incredible moments thanks to the best athletes in the world and of getting a buzz with the whole of Stade de France in front of one or more new athletics records.
