One-day seminar: how to make your event a success

You need to brief your sales representatives on the new development policy, brainstorm about the new digital strategy with the communications team or even put together a project to respond to a public call for tenders... Give yourself the gift of a one-day seminar away from your usual work setting, and get your teams even more revved up!
Don’t minimise the importance of planning out these seminar sessions for your professional needs! Though they are more concentrated and aimed at smaller groups of guests than retreats or conferences, their success nevertheless remains an important issue for the company. To make your work session effective, constructive and unifying, follow these three tips for a successful one-day seminar.

For an effective one-day seminar

An effective session relies on impeccable logistics and organisation.
To avoid wasting any valuable time, it is essential that you choose the right location. It has to be easily accessible for participants, all the more so if you are in Paris and the Paris region, so that travel time is kept to a minimum.
Choose a fully-equipped room, suited to the type of meeting you have planned. The events team at the space will help you put together your agenda, either with a full package of services, or providing you with the venue. In all cases, check that the room is equipped with all the facilities you might need: flipchart, video projector and screen, wireless microphone, lectern and gooseneck, Wi-Fi connection and plugs, etc.
Remember: to be productive during your work sessions, you will need to give yourself some breaks! Your participants will enjoy the welcome coffee, pastry breaks and lunch, all chances to relax and chat.

For a constructive one-day seminar

Set your goals in advance and ask yourself what you want your guests to remember coming away from the day. Do you want them to learn about the company’s challenges, reflect on and discuss a project in collective intelligence, or follow a professional training course?
The room’s layout can help attain your objectives: in theatre-style, facing a speaker for a top-down meeting; in U-shape to follow a presentation then discuss eye to eye; a round table to engage in collective work; board-room style for a management committee; or class-room style, with tables for easier note-taking. Form serving content!

For a uniting one-day seminar

These times away from work will bring people together, and it is essential that participants feel they are taking part in something special. The location chosen is important: a countryside castle, a prestigious Paris meeting room, a co-working space or a location completely off the beaten track... It should be conducive to dialogue and invite reflection, in addition to representing the company’s values. If time permits, add to your line-up with workshops or fun activities like an incentive sequence, team building or a shared experience to further unite your team.

Follow these three tips, and make your one-day seminar a 100% success! As to the venue, how about Stade de France? The Event Day packages include a one-day seminar tailor-suited to your team, in the meeting areas, including breaks during which they can enjoy the legendary stadium, before taking in a sporting or cultural event with co-workers. Our event experts are here to guide you and plan out your tailor-made one-day seminar.
